[Hongdae] If you wanna try very delicious yet cheap macarons in Seoul, Macaron 마카롱!

Hi all! I've been to one of my favorite macaron places in Hongdae right before I went to Paul and Paulina! :)
I guarantee that this place's macaron is the best in Seoul! well some people might say that this place's macaron is not their style that much but at least for me, this is the best!

Well, I came to know this place by searching macaron on the portal site in Korea
and the price was reasonable as well! for one macaron, it costs \1,700.

Here is very near around Hong Ik University.
From the univ, you just cross the road and if you walk a bit to the right side,
you can find the sign. It's very simple right? and the sign is just like this!

Omg, fresh baked macarons!
They have quite a few flavors of macarons :)
Usually if you go around 3~4pm there are a lot of people but if you go a bit early, you can get any flavor you want! (Esp earl grey flavor is damn delicious!)

Here's the price list.
well as you can see 1pc is \1,700 but if you wanna get a box you can order 6 pcs and it's \9,000 and it's cheaper than buying 1 pc only!

Oh i didn;t know that they have gift box for 9 pcs hahah
and if you want they have key charm to simply by paying a bit more!
Later I will show you the key charm :) <3

Not only macarons but they also have some other desserts!
I haven't tried yet but reviews are very good! their patissier is from France.
that time I've seen him and he's actually really handsome! HAHAHA

They do serve some drinks but the seats are very limited.
So most of the people usually take away their desserts!
I remember drinks are quite cheap though (like americano was \3,500 around there)

AND they have these few different types of cookies and desserts!
Hmmmmm looks so yummmz <3

Oh here's the key charm that I was talking about above! looks so cute right? HAHAHA

Yes I've also taken away my macarons! I bought 6pcs one and they wrap it like this!
today's weather was super duper hot so it was almost melting.. hmmm
So right after I got home, I put it in the fridge hehe

hehehehehehehehhe
yes imma macaron holic seriously!
from the left side, I remember it was Strawberry, Chocolate, Raspberry, Rose, Salted Caramel and Earl grey (Well i'm not sure so don't blame me!)
I usually order this macaron flavors but.. Most of the times I never fail!

OH that time I have ordered Olive flavor and it was quite interesting HAHAHA
tasted really like olive oil! but I'm an Olive holic as well HAHAHA :)
I think rose and earl grey are very popular at this store!!

Cos it looks so good! I kept taking photos <3

I tried the strawberry one and it actually has some jam filling inside and it tastes so so so soso so osososososososo omg so good!
I love it so much! :)
Well, Okay but some of my friends like other macaron place better called 'Suave'
and Suave is located near 'Macaron' too.
Maybe next time I will write a review about it!

For me I prefer soft biting taste but my friends who prefer Suave like the chewy taste!
I think it's almost same as Laduree vs. Pierre Herme
well I've tried both and I prefer Laduree! (that time I bought 6pcs package and I finished at one time HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA OOPS!)

Anyway, hope this helps you guys if you wanna eat sweet desserts in Hongdae area :)

[Hongdae] Authentic French Style Bakery 'Paul & Paulina' 폴앤폴리나

Hello all, today the place we want to introduce you is Paul and Paulina which is a famous and popular bakery in Korea! (:

Well, I guess many of you guys love bread! and so do I.
Actually in Korea, lots of people are very familiar with bread with some sweet jams or fillings inside like Paris Baguette bread. However, there are some of bakeries which serve bread for meals like western people usually eat! (like very plain type kind)

For me, honestly I'm a person who likes to eat bread with some cream cheese filling HAHAHA however, I get to try this place's bread since everytime I go hongdae, I could find lots of people queuing for the bread! HAH SERIOUS?
Then I wanted to try this. but of course before going there, I went to search for the reviews! and guess what? the reviews were so good!

OKAY so, after I've been there I came to love their bread so much!
They have not many kinds of bread and usually those are ciabattas, croissants kind.
But they also serve olive oil dippings as well to eat with the bread!

Here is the bakery!
You can find it easily when you reach Hongik University.
opposite of the univ, there's a Starbucks. When you go into that alley beyond the Starbucks, you can find the Paul and Paulina!

Normally there's a super long queue, but today I went there right after they opened
so only 3~4 girls were in the shop to check out their bread HAHAHA

As you can see, they do samplings!
well I didn't eat the samples cos I know their bread is already damn good
but the bakers their were very friendly and asked me to try those so I tried one with olive oil dipping :)

Their black olive bread is so so so awesome! I'm a olive person but if you don't like olive you can just choose normal ciabattas!

Everytime I come here, seems like I'm at some European bakery!
those bread all look so simple but authentic!

As I wrote above, they do have dippings and it's very cheap like \1,000 :)

But the cons of this place is ...
they have no seat to eat. I guess it's because the rental is so expensive and the bread their are usually for normal meals so people take away and eat at home!

So I brought this at home

Ok, she wrapped my bread separately.
I bought two bread. One is Black Olive and another is Cranberry scone.

I spent \5,600 for total amount of bread :)

Cranberry Scone

Super duper good when you eat this with Americano.
Hmmmmmm <3

Anything from Paul and Paulina never fails to make me feel satisfied!

Here's black olive
well, it's actually quite big and with only this bread I felt quite filling.

OMG, the olives are so good that I almost fainted
I kept saying 'daebak daebak!' HAHAHAHA

Well, if you stay in Seoul quite long, I recommend you to try this cos you cannot eat Korean food all day and may miss bread too!
and I guarantee that this place's bread is almost same as the bread which is sold in Paris! :)

They have two outlets in Seoul.
Original one is in Hongdae and recently they opened in Yeouido area.
So you can go wherever is near your place!

Name : Paul & Paulina
Address : 1. Hongdae - 서울 마포구 서교동 344-6 칼리오페 빌딩 102호
2. Yeouido - 서울 영등포구 여의도동 37 아일렉스 빌딩 1층
Money spent : around \5,000 if you buy two bread but some bread are cheaper
Opening hours : Hongdae branch - Everyday from 12pm to 7pm
except Sundays and Every first week's monday
Yeouido Branch - Same as Hongdae branch.
(However, if you go late you may not find the bread you want since the bakery is very popular!)

[What to buy in Korea] The most spicy noodle in Korea '불닭볶음면'. Challenge for this SPICY FOOD!

Hello everybody, thanks for the support for our very first post that I've posted yesterday!
We were very pleased with our supporters and you can see lots of food pics at our instagram @seoulhophop

if you have any inquiries, please feel free to ask us by commenting on the post!

Well, today we wanna introduce you how to make the super spicy instant noodle!
I guess many of you guys would roughly know how to make this! but we just wanna give you the review of the noodle :)
I'd like to say it's one of my favorite instant noodle from Korea!
When I was staying in Singapore, I've always wanted to eat this so whenever I miss Korea I just go Korean mart located at Tanjong Pagar area and swept all the packets over there! HAHAHA

I let quite a few of my singaporean friends to try this noodle and mos of them said
WAH SIAO IT'S SUPER SPICY HOW CAN YOU EAT THIS?
HAHAHAHAHHAHA
However, there's a saying in Korea that
There are some people who have never tried 불닭볶음면(the name of this noodle) But there's no one who has tried this only one.
So it means that once you eat it, you will be addicted!

Ok, To post this I brought this noodle out from my noodle shelves! keke
on the packet, it says One of the most beloved instant noodle from koreans among Korean Top 7 instant noodles.

Ok you flip it off then can see how to make this noodle.

1. you pour 600ml of water in the pot and when it boils, you put the noodle inside and wait for 5 mins.
2. Rinse and stir the noodle but you have to keep around 8 spoons amount of water inside the pot. Then put the sauce and mix it with noodle for 30 secs with the fire on
3. After turning off the fire, put the seaweed powder and EAT!

OH WELL

So I pour the water firstly
honestly when I cook dry noodle, I just pour water anyhow (don't care about the amount of water since you're gonna rinse and stir the noodle later!)

Watched TV for a while until it boils!
OK OK let me throw the noodle inside

Tada! I put the noodle and wait for 5 mins :)

Then rinse and stir the noodle BUT don't try to add more water
if you do that, it would spoil the taste!

Then add the sauce,
wow.. just by looking at it, my mouth is drooling slurp slurp hahha

You may add cheese (any cheese is okay! If you like mozzarella OK FINE)
I normally add cheese cos if I just eat the noodle by itself, ITS DAMN SPICY I CANNOT STAND IT SRSLY

Then mix it for 30 secs
Usually chesse will be melt :) during this process, you have to adjust the fire very light.

DONE!
was looks damn spicy but i bet you will love it <3

Don't forget to add seaweed powder before you it! hehe :)

Well, here was the way to cook the most spicy noodle in Korea!
You can find the noodle easily at any supermarkets in Korea. So challenge yourself for this SPICY NOODLE

Thanks for reading the post again and keep updated by following us @seoulhophop at Instagram! See you very soon xx

[Hongdae] If you wanna try something very local street food yet clean, 또보겠지 떡볶이집!

Hello errrrrrrbody, first place that we would like to introduce is Korean local street food!
I bet many of you guys have heard of super various kinds of korean street food AND Toppokki must be the no.1 street food that you may wanna try out!

Well, I've seen some of singaporean friends actually didn't like Toppokki that much since they don't like the feeling of the texture when they chew it. However, some of Singaporean friends super loved it cos they love the spicy taste of KOREA hahaha

Here's the very famous Korean Toppokki place where is super crowded with locals!
AND the cons of this place is you DO NOT need to worry about sanitation cos it's not served outside like other street food! also, they make Toppokki right after you order the food, so it's vvvvvery fresh! :)

Well, here's the way.
This restaurants have 3 outlets in Hongdae so you can access to this place easily cos it's all near around your shopping heaven HAHA
and if you cannot find the location, you can ask any of koreans around hongdae and i'm sure they will know of it!

This sign is drawn at the 1st outlet of the restaurant! :)

It's located at the 2nd floor of the building!
Usually during the lunch time, it has a long queue so you'd better go there early!
Well for me, if they have a long queue, I just go to another outlet of the restaurant haha
However, 3rd outlet has recently been launched near around Coffee Prince cafe and there has less people cos most of the people are not aware of the restaurant :)

This is the famous Toppokki! (\11,000 for 2 pax)
Yayee, let's dig in!

Ok for this Toppokki, you can order the amount of the food by the party you have!
So you can order like 'Can I have Toppokki for 3 peeps?'
but I guess if you're with 2 friends (so, altogether 3) I recommend you order Toppokki for 2 people and order some other side dishes cos later you can mix the rice on the pan! (AND THAT'S SUPER DELICIOUS**)

and you can add some toppings whatever you want :)
I've added Cheese rice cake and it was pretty good haha

Toppokki! hmmmmm makes me hungry this late at night AHHHHHHHH

Staff will let you know when Toppokki is served,
you have to eat the noodle first since it may be stuck to the bottom of the pan!

and this is also a popular side dish at this restaurant!
Butter garlic fries (\5,000)

Everytime I bring my Korean friend here and let them try this
and their eyes always shine bright likka diamonds!! HAHAHA :) :)

Ok, after finishing Toppokki, you can mix the rice on the pan!
normally people order mixed rice with flying fish roe and cheese.
but you can order whatever you wanna eat :) :)

Mixed rice with cheese (\2,000)
Mixed rice with flying fish roe (\2,500)

Oh my, I feel like eating it NOW! HAHAHA

Ok, here is now one of the famous and popular Toppokki place in Korea and you would never regret going there cos it tastes soooo guuuuuud <3

We wrote the location below the post so that you can find the place easier!
Hope this helps you guys and more food pics @seoulhophop at Instagram
